“Pandora’s Box” explores the disruption of visual in the landscape with the use of a mirror cube. It plays with one’s curiosity of what is inside the reflective yet mysterious box. This was inspired by the many conceptual artists’ works such as Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirror Room and Anish Kapoor’s Mirror Sculptures and particularly influenced by photographer Keith Arnatt’s Mirror-plug installation. By placing a constructed mirror cube in various locations, the reflections on the mirror reveal visuals of the surrounding landscape that were part of the land but not included in the photograph. This creates a distortion of space as the sense of scale is lost between the cube and its surrounding environment.
